Windows 7 Release Candidate 1 impressions, insights, and expectations Will Windows 7 RC Run on My Computer?
May 08

It’s true, Windows 7’s secret new feature is XP Mode. It’s a virtual Windows XP machine—complete with a fully licensed copy of Windows XP SP 3 installed on the virtual machine—that you can download which runs seamlessly in Windows 7, so you can do crazy things like run IE6 side-by-side with IE8. It’s meant for businesses who need compatibility for mission critical XP-only apps. Windows 7 XP Mode

Really, don’t get too hung up on it—it’s only for the Enterprise, Professional and Ultimate versions of Windows 7, not the Home Premium version you’ll probably be running one day. (The release candidate is Ultimate, so you can toy around with it after downloading it here.) You also need a processor with either Intel Virtualization Technology or AMD-V and 2GB of RAM. And you can’t really do anything intense like gaming inside of it. Oh, and fair warning, it’s also probably one of the release candidate’s glitchiest features. Image via Wikipedia.

THIS is NOT “compatiable” with XP 32-bit–period!!! I’ve gone round and round, with thier so-called “tech” support–and, gotten absolutely nowhere. I more than “fit” their requrements;but, IT just won’t load the OS(Windows 7 RC).
IT keeps gives the error:”File:\Windows\System32\Winload.exe is missing or corrupt. Status: 0×000000d .”
NO matter what advice THEY have given or advised, that I have folowed to the letter—–NOTHING has corrected this problem. NOTHING!!!
And, I’m not the only one–with this same exact problem. I know, I’ve checked numerious “Windows 7 RC” forums–NOT just Microsofts’ Tech Net site, in regard to this same “exact” problem. So–save yourself the headhaches and frustration–STAY CLEAR OF THIS:” XP-32BIT, NON-COMPATIABLE, ROT WITH MAJOR BUGS SUPPOSED OS SYSTEM”.
Microsoft–has proven once more, that they “push” programs/operating systems out..WITHOUT “fully” testing them. WE are the “Guinea Pigs–Period…

I’m not sure what your trying to do Joseph but it works fine on my comps with virtualization support.. If your that desperate for VMs just run Sun’s Virtual Box works great..

Note: XP Mode is designed for WINDOWS 7 .. Its not meant for vista.. Its not meant for xp.. I run it with one gb of ram no probs.. Just a little slow when folding proteins aswell..
