Because of my age and maybe interest of technology, Windows 95 is the first OS i have ever heard. It was the most popular OS in that time. After years, Windows 98 has been released and became very popular. I still use it on my old PC
Then Microsoft released Windows 2000 which is the next generation of NT based systems and ME, the next generation of 98. But they couldn’t get the expected interest by users… Continue reading »
While a number of people have been successfully running Windows 7 on their Boot Camp partitions since the first public beta releases were available, many have been waiting for official support from Apple before installing it. Yesterday Apple released Boot Camp 3.1, which provides support for Windows 7, but full support on some systems may not be as straightforward as updating Boot Camp and then installing Windows 7. Additionally, some people have wondered whether or not the updates that state specific support for Windows 7 are applicable to Vista and XP installations. Continue reading »

Everybody who upgrades to Windows 7, be it from XP or Vista, will have a good reason for doing so. I thought I’d look at a few of these, examine whether Windows 7 is likely to meet expectations, and ask you why you’re going to get it. Continue reading »
Not only is Microsoft taking some cues from Apple for its retail stores, but it’s also trying to poach store managers, with the promise of higher pay (according to The Loop). Microsoft is even offering to pay for the moving expenses if required, and the software giant also wants top sales agents, informing “moved” managers that they are also interested in those employees as well, and that they will have the same bonuses.
It’s not a bad move (just interesting) considering the success of the Apple Stores (let’s face it, we all know that Microsoft is just trying to imitate the Apple Store). Whether it will be a failure or a complete success remains to be seen, although the latter is probably the safer option considering that Microsoft is building off of an already successful base (who said that you can’t learn from your enemies?). lthough the conventional wisdom is that the rise of the Netbook is hurting the Windows business, a Microsoft executive said Tuesday that lower-cost laptops can actually be a good thing.Speaking at an investor conference, general manager Charles Songhurst said that overall, most people buying Netbooks are either multiple PC owners in developed markets or first-time PC buyers in emerging markets.
“From what we see they are incremental,” Songhurst said. “They are new scenarios.” Continue reading »
The rivalry between Apple and Microsoft fanboys has not been going on for as long as some rivalries such as the rivalry between Puma and Adidas which not only split a family, but a whole town. Adolf “Adi” Dassler and Rudolf Dassler split their family business and setup up rival companies in the same town, Adidas and Puma, when they fell out after WWII. However, the war between mac and microsoft boys has been a good one over the last decade or so.
One of the most often used superiority claims that Apple users utilise against Windows is the apparent additional security that Apple Snow Leopard offers over Windows 7. However, security experts have chipped away at the myth that macs are more secure than PCs. These include a key mac hacker who has pointed out a key feature that makes Snow Leopard less secure than Windows 7. Continue reading »
Microsoft’s marketing team considers ridiculously skewed comparison charts to be a killer weapon in the war on competitors. It’s only natural, then, that the Redmond giant would provide retail store employees with a surreal juxtaposition between Windows 7 and Linux to “explain” for the Linux-curious. Continue reading »
First of all, will you buy it? Do you think that Windows 7 will make your life easier? What do you expect from Windows 7?
I know, i am asking too many questions. But i wonder if people have big expectations from Windows 7. Actually, i have. In XP i’ve never seen the blue screen. But in Vista i see it daily. Even some days 2-3 times. My friends have the same complain. I expect that Microsoft will solve that kind of problems in Windows 7.
And i expect more from Microsoft. Due to its new kernel (minwin) i expectit will run faster. In Vista, i am afraid of enabling the gadgets. At startup, they start in 2-3 minutes. I hope this will be fixed in Windows 7.
These are my main expectations from Windows 7. I believe that even if these expectations are not realized in Windows 7, Microsoft will make a better OS than Vista.
So i am thinking to buy it when it is released. Please comment what you are thinking and please join our poll on the right side panel of site.
Thanks,
M. Dikici
